Game Roles
In the game you will be interacting with a large number of users both in open world questing to forming party鈥檚 for a mutual goal. During these times it will be important for every player to be aware of their task and role they play within the group. One of the great things about this game is that you can customize your character any way you want in terms of distributing your attribute points. But you should keep in mind when allocating the points what type of role you want to have while playing and interacting with other players. In this guide we will discuss the four roles that are common in almost every MMO.
Tank
Purpose - The main purpose of a tank is to protect the group by purposely taking all the damage possible. The skills you use and the equipment you wear are geared towards you taking all the attacks but reducing how much damage it deals to you.
Maintaining Hate/Aggro/Threat - As a tank keeping the monsters attention towards you is very important for your team鈥檚 survivability and overall success. If monsters are continually switching targets it will make it very difficult for your healers to keep everyone alive. As a main tank you will need ways to generate the most threat and have abilities to draw monsters to you or off of someone else.
Pulling/Leading - It is the duty of a main tank to pull and engage all monsters. This is done by the main tank because they can take the most damage. If it was done by a wizard they might not survive the first hit or live long enough to get healed. A main tank will be able to survive more than long enough to pull the monster back to the group. In addition to pulling the monsters it鈥檚 also the role of the tank to lead the party. They need to make sure the group is ready before engaging and calling out the targets.
Notes - This role is usually carried out by a Barbarian but can be substituted by a Blademaster or pet.
Healer
Purpose - The main purpose of a Healer is to ensure the survival of the group by keeping everyone healed. This role is a vital competent to any successful group. Without a healer the likely hood of success is very low.
Key Points - Make sure you play close attention to your party members because reviving a member during a difficult battle is usually impossible because of the duration of the chant and your inability to heal during it. Pay attention to your mana because often times you will get into prolonged battles and if you run out of mana your group will die. Prioritize your targets because healing a pet over your main tank can cause him to die in turn whipping your party.
Note - Cleric is really the only class that can heal efficiently but venomancer and wizards do also have skills to get back life quickly.
Damage Dealer
Purpose - The main function of this role is to output as much damage as possible without drawing the attention of the monster. You want to be quick and efficient as possible when dealing your damage because the party will rely on you for killing the monster. While the main tank keeps the monster occupied you concentrate on lowering the monsters Health. The mark of a good DP鈥檈r is knowing your skills and knowing how to rotate them effectively to output the highest amount of damage possible.
Note - Task is usually carried out by Wizard, Blademaster , Archer, and Venomancer.
Hybrid
Purpose - The main purpose of a hybrid role is to fill the gaps of your group. Often times you might be faced with a situation where you do not have the ideal group but if you have hybrid players they can assist you in filling the missing roles
